About Jojo’s Apothecary
Jojo became interested in working with tallow while working as a butcher at Ranch Foods Direct. At first, she was intrigued by the opportunity to close the gap between a waste product from butchering and a nourishing skincare product. Over the years, she has honed her rendering process and learned how to select the best suet to work with. Jojo now offers soft and nourishing tallow balms. She also completed her herbalist education through Sage Consulting and Apothecary, where she studied many medicinal plants and best practices for using them. She uses this knowledge to create thoughtful and effective herbal remedies.
Jojo holds a deep commitment to community, both ecological and interpersonal, and strives to support them through her business ventures. From sourcing her tallow from a regenerative farm to collaborating with local artists and friends, she prioritizes supporting local businesses.
Dedicated to creating safe, thoughtful products, Jojo thoroughly researches each essential oil before using it and continually seeks ways to reduce plastic in her packaging. She refuses to work with any ingredient unless she feels 100% confident in its safety and has tested her tallow products for microbes, heavy metals, and pesticides.
She also spends many hours in her garden, nourishing both herself and the insect and bird communities around her. Jojo is someone who gives and receives with grace, a value she carries into everything she does.
